As usual, Thursday is the day of the dress rehearsal. After rehearsals in the morning, lunch will be eaten a little faster to get to the parking lot punctually at 13:30 with packed instruments, music stands and bags. Everything is loaded into the cars. 9 double basses, lots of cellos, several guitars, a tuba, tenor saxophones, trombones, even a bassoon, horns are the biggest instruments to be brought into the church. Countless violins, violas, transverse flutes, clarinets, trumpets and alto Saxophones were carried into the city if they did not find a small place in one of the many cars. Music stands were stowed away as usual in the foot compartments of the cars and then it started. 170 participants ran down again into the city. This time, however, the road that goes faster and comes out at the church.
Arriving at the bottom, the common pieces were rehearsed first, before all orchestras (except the RO) had the church for themselves afterwards. After each of the orchestras the participants drove cars again and ran up the mountain with instructors and supervisors.
Everyone was back for dinner. And to make sure it doesn’t get boring on Thursdays, there is ROCKING THURSDAY from 7 pm, followed by BUNTE ABEND and after that even the night hike.
The colorful evening was varied with singing, self-written pieces with dance, and various brass performances. Our guests from Jerusalem gave the evening an eastern touch and took us with them into a musical world unknown to us.
Like every year, the highlight was the award ceremonies. As always, the room was checked every evening: Are all the residents there? Or even in their pyjamas? Can you walk up to the window without stumbling? How is the air… can you breathe? Are there attempts at bribery?
The winners of the storm in the water glass were honoured, the fastest of the 30-minute Challenge and of course the winners of the football tournament. All in all a “colourful” evening.
